SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION (For Enrollment Fall 2012)

The mission of the Chequamegon Theatre Association is to involve, educate, entertain, and enrich the Chequamegon Bay region through theatre arts. As part of the celebration of our fortieth season, we are pleased to announce the Chequamegon Theatre Association Scholarship, which will be awarded annually, starting in May, 2012. Although subject to change based on the quality and quantity of applicants, the CTA intends to award one scholarship per year in the amount of $500, which will be disbursed as a personal check once proof of enrollment is provided.

ELIGIBILITY--Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Must have participated in at least one CTA production, as a member of the cast or production crew
  • Must be going on to pursue (or be in the process of pursuing) formal study toward a career in a theatre-related field
  • Must be a graduate (Class of 2012 or earlier) of Ashland High School, Bayfield High School, or Washburn High School
  • Must submit all materials required in the application form.

APPLICATION PROCESS—The following items must be included in the application:

Cover Sheet [Click for Application]—Complete legibly, please.

References--Enclose two letters of recommendation:

  • One letter from an adult CTA member (non-relative) who is familiar with your contribution(s) to the CTA
  • One letter from an adult teacher/mentor (non-relative) who is a professional in a field related to your chosen field of study and who can vouch for your aptitude and potential.

Background Information--Provide the following information:

  • A list of all CTA experience (List each production—including Children’s Theatre and One-Acts--and your contribution.)
  • A list of theatre-related school or community activities in which you have participated in addition to CTA experience (e.g., high school drama, forensics, music, playwriting/screenwriting, art/graphic art, sound/lighting design/operation, etc.).
  • A list of all theatre-related training in which you have participated
  • A list of all theatre-related awards/honors received

Personal Statement--Include a personal statement answering the following questions:

  • What is your anticipated (or current) course of study and to what type of career will it lead?
  • How did your experience with the CTA influence your decision to pursue this course of study, and in what capacity—if any—do you anticipate being involved in community theatre in the future?
